IMIM Foundation

The IMIM Foundation is a private, non-profit organisation created in 1992. Its main purposes are research and postgraduate teaching in the fields of Biomedicine and Health and Life Sciences, as well as the promotion of these within the IMAS.

Among its functions are: The managing and monitoring of research projects and of the grants applied for; the promotion of quality research; the maintaining of ethical and deontological principles; the publication of research results; and the promotion of the specialised teaching and ongoing training of Health Sciences professionals.

The IMIM Foundation is progressively taking charge of the administration of the IMAS's research resources, with an especially important role in the management of European Projects, of external services and of grants for research projects and cooperative research networks with the Carlos III Health Institute (Instituto de Salud Carlos III).

It is one of the main forces driving the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), and is a part of the PRBB Foundation, together with the Research Foundation of the Pompeu Fabra University and the Centre for Genome Regulation.

The Governing Board is the highest governing body of the Foundation, and this is made up of representatives from the IMAS (Institut Municipal d'Assistència Sanitària), the Catalan Government's Universities and Research Department, the Universities (UPF and UAB) and the research staff of the IMIM (Institut Municipal d'Investigació Mèdica).
