How to visit a family member

Visits should preferably be after 1pm. You can stay with the patient until 8pm. Outside these times, and only with the authorisation of the nursing staff, one person may stay with the patient. For the welfare of your family member or friend, and that of the other patients, try to avoid many people visiting the patient at the same time, keep visits short and try not to make much noise.

We advise against bringing children into the Hospital. A hospital environment is not suitable for young children.

If the patient has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, the doctor responsible for the patient will inform family members about his/her progress every morning, from 12 midday in the Intensive Care Unit itself. On public holidays, the information will be given by the doctor on duty. The family members will also be given information about any changes in the patient's condition. Normally, two family members per patient are allowed to enter at the following visiting times: At 12.30am, at 6:30pm, at 10.30pm and at 3am.

If the patient is in the Observation Room or the Pre-admission Emergency Area, the times for receiving medical information are 12 midday and 8pm. The family members will also be given information about any changes in the patient's condition. One person may accompany each patient from 11am to 2pm and from 3.30pm to 8.30pm, whenever the activity of the service permits.
