Mental health

The mental health service of the Forum Centre is integrated into the Neuropsychiatric and Addictions Institute (INAD), which has the objective of providing clinical attention, diagnosis and treatment, in a personalised, effective and safe way, to persons in the communities of our areas who have psychiatric disorders.

The services of the INAD offer specialised care at different levels: care for acute and critical cases involving total or day hospitalisation, a multidisciplinary out-patient service with rapid intake and coordination with the network of psychiatric care for the care continuum.

The team of doctors, nurses, psychologists and social workers, amongst others, are experts in attention to mental patients, in terms of diagnosis, assessment, treatment and subsequent monitoring.

Units for hospitalisation of acute cases

These are located in the 4th (unit 4A) and 5th (5A) floors of the Centre Fòrum. There are beds for patients of over 18 years of age who have a mental illness that require treatment in hospital. Also, in the 5th floor there is a Dual Patology Unit with 11 beds.

Personal items and valuables

The person who is admitted to the centre should bring clothing (day clothes, underwear and pyjamas), which we recommend should be marked with the patient's name. It is also a good idea to bring personal toiletry items. If the patient does not have the necessary things on admission, they should be brought during visiting times.

We recommend that, during the patient's stay, s/he should keep personal belongings to a minimum and avoiding having a lot of money, jewellery or other valuable articles. Patients may be given cigarettes or coins for the public telephones but certain objects could be dangerous for them (lighters, shaving equipment, scissors, etc.). For this reason, everything that is brought for the patient must be shown to the nursing staff. Remember, too, that toxic substances must not be brought in, and that any drinks given must be caffeine- and alcohol-free. The centre accepts no responsibility for the patient's personal items.

Visits

In order to provide social and family contact, and to allow the therapies and treatments to take place in a suitably calm environment, the following visiting hours have been established:

  • Weekdays: From 3pm to 7pm
  • Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays: From 10am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 7pm

Telephones

Each hospital ward has its own direct telephone line, which makes contact with the responsible nursing staff easier (daily from 9am to 11am and from 3pm to 4.30pm).

The telephone numbers that the centre has made available to family members who wish to contact the patient are:

  • 4th floor ward: 93 326 85 04
  • 5th floor ward: 93 326 85 03

These lines are open from:

  • Weekdays: 3pm to 7pm
  • Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays: 10am to 12.30am and from 3pm to 7pm
